BIODIVERSITY

       Biodiversity is a short version of the word biological diversity. 

     Wikipedia define biological diversity as the degree of variation of life forms within a given ecosystem, biome, or an entire planet. It is a measure of the health of ecosystems and is in part a function of climate.

     There are actually 3 types of biodiversity and these are; ecosystem diversity, species diversity and genetic diversity.

    

       Ecosystem diversity is the variety of habitats found in an area. It is natural unit which consists of forests, deserts, aquatic ecosystem, etc., occur in an area.

        Species diversity is the variety of species in an area. It refers to the number of plant and animals present in an area. It varies from one ecosystem to another. Different species of plants and animals are found in an ecosystem with a high species diversity.

         Genetic diversity refers to the total number of genetic characteristic in the genetic makeup of a species. The more genetic diversity in an species means great ability for some species to adapt to changes in the environment.
